Artists: Marjan Habibian/ Zahra Ghyasi

d’Angers Gallery is holding an artist in residence program on February 2018 for two weeks, in which two of the most promising artists, Marjan Habibian and Zahra Ghyasi, will participate.

The main purpose of this program is to perform research on folklore and culture of the area. The selected artists will be located at Shahmirzad, a countryside placed 25 km north of Semnan. In the first few days, artists will be visiting some of historical sites, rural life and cultural places in the perimeter. In the following days they will create some artworks which will, hopefully, be inspired by their residence in Semnan.

Marjan Habibian (b. 1971) is an Iranian-Austrian artist, who currently live in Austria. She has a Master’s degree in painting from Islamic Azad University and thought art for 4 years in some universities. Marjan is a worldly artist and has traveled a lot; as a result, she has a colorful resume. From membership of Omani society of fine arts to eight solo exhibitions and tens of group exhibitions around the world.

Marjan’s main focus in this program is her Blue Line collection. In her view blue line resembles the sky, and whole the world is going to remain in this blue ring. People and things they attached to, is her major issue; so she will share a moment of her life, from which she learned, and with it she experienced bittersweet taste of life.

Zahra Ghyasi (b. 1981) is an Iranian contemporary visual artist. Her education is consisting of two parts, one-part computer sciences and management at Iran university of science and Technology, and one part several courses in art. She is a very enthusiastic artist and her main focus in this program is on Persian gardens and what’s missing from them these days.

Most of Zahra’s exhibitions was located in Tehran and Isfahan, Iran; but with recent exhibitions in Dusseldorf and Munich she is extending her work. A true rising star.
